Usual position / job on circuit

Track/incident marshal or Supermoto Chief Marshal

How long have you been involved in Motorsport (Bikes/Cars/Karts etc)

I have returned to bike racing and started marshalling in 2000 after a break of 20+ years where I used to mechanic for a team which used to race at all the circuits that I now marshal

Favourite circuit and sector if any

Favourite circuit has to be the IOM TT course- sector 4 at Black Dub. Anyone that has spectated there will know why!

Best moment in your motorsport career

IOM TT 2004 when a rider crashed through a wall and flew 22 metres through the canopy of the trees and landed under his bike in a bog. After a 20 minute rescue operation we managed to get him safely to the airmed helicopter- then to visit him in hospital the next day to find that he had only sustained a broken rib and minor leg injuries

Worst moment in your motorsport career

When it comes to the end of the season and you that you have all those long winter weekends, doing the jobs around the house that you should have done in the summer months

Other comments

I would fully recommend taking up marshalling to anyone who has any interest in motorsport. You make friends- both colleagues and competitors an their teams and can offer a full social life, as well as a sense of achievement when a meeting goes smoothly
