AINTREE RACE CIRCUIT

HOW TO GET THERE

At the roundabout at the end of the M57, follow the 'Aintree Race Course' brown tourist sign. At the second set of traffic lights, turn left into Aintree Lane (signposted 'Melling'). After half a mile or so, turn right into Melling Road, then left into the circuit just over the bridge.

On Arrival
Drive through the paddock & park in the Golf Centre car park.
Entry to the circuit will depend on the organising club - Aintree Motor Cycle Racing club issues tickets to marshals.

Signing On
Sign on is in the white building at the end of the paddock nearest the Golf Centre.

Circuit Usage / Configurations
The circuit is used by, among others, Aintree Motor Cycle Racing Club for bike races & Liverpool Motor Club for sprints.

The circuit is located within the Grand National course & is a shortened version of the course used for the British Grand Prix in the 1950s.

The circuit is about a mile & a half long with a long straight, well-surfaced but not very wide. Most corners have wide grass run-offs. It's quite a fast circuits - the outright lap record speed for bikes is 98.69mph.

Posts
Village - The second bend on the circuit, a fast right-hander. The three flag points on this post are kept busy!

Beechers - The world-famous Beechers Brook! A long sweeping right-hander; a good post for bikes - plenty of brave overtaking manoeuvres!

Country Corner - First corner & only left-hander, post on top of banking with good view to start line & most of circuit.

Club - End of the railway straight, the final bend before the start finish straight.  Quite a good view especially as the bikes brake into the corner from the long straight.

Lunch / Circuit Customs
There is a bar in the Golf Centre, which also serves food. Burger vans will also be found at a couple of places around the circuit.

Marshal's Perspective
A lovely little circuit. Amenities are rather basic - no permanent flag/observers' posts, & because of the wide run-offs incidents can happen a long way from the nearest marshals - good fitness training!
